Reflections on Small Business Saturday in Norwalk
Reflections on Small Business Saturday in Norwalk
and what this little shop has meant for over 50 years
The Mind’s Eye has been part of Norwalk since 1972 — back when the city looked different, life moved slower, and small neighborhood shops were the soul of every community.
As we wrap up this Small Business Saturday weekend, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on what this day truly means to us — not in a sales way, but in a human way.
Over the decades, Norwalk has grown and evolved. New families have planted roots, new shops have opened, and new generations continue to find their own paths here. But through all that change, one thing has stayed beautifully steady:
this little corner of magic that so many people have walked into for more than fifty years.
🌿 A Family Legacy
This space was once run by my mom — a place the three of us poured ourselves into and worked in side by side. Today, my sister and I carry that legacy forward with intention, care, and a deep love for our community.
To us, The Mind’s Eye has always been more than shelves of crystals, herbs, candles, and treasures. It has been a sanctuary for connection. A place where people walk in and say…
“I grew up coming here.”
“My mom used to bring me here.”
“This shop helped me through a hard time.” "This place brings me peace."
Those stories keep this place alive.
They are the real heartbeat of our business.
✨ What Small Business Saturday Means to Us
Small Business Saturday is more than a busy shopping day. It’s a reminder of why neighborhood businesses matter — why third-generation (soon to be fourth-generation) shops like ours still exist, and why spaces like this continue to hold meaning for so many.
Yesterday, we felt it all: the connection, the conversations, the energy, and the presence of people who genuinely care about keeping small businesses alive in Norwalk.
